Reykjavík Dance Festival // Super Social Space
August 2013
In 2012, Erna Ómarsdóttir and Valdimar Jóhansson invited curators Alexander Roberts and Ásgerður G. Gunnarsdóttir to work with them to curate and co-produce the 2013 edition of Reykjavík Dance Festival.
In addition to the programation, the pair – in collaboration with a collective of dancers and choreographers operating under the title Choreography Reykjavík – opened a bar for the full duration of the festival.
This bar - the Super Social Space – was a site for performance, parties, workshops, dinners, artist talks, and more. It was created to explore and experiment with how dance, performance and choreography could be the oil between people in social situations – how one could position community and the relations between friends and strangers alike at the heart of the festival.
Participating artists and curators included:
Mette Ingvartsen
Danjel Andersson
Kerstin Schroth
Haraldur Jónsson
Ásgerður G. Gunnarsdóttir
